Volunteers
Do you have time to spare? Would you like to support your local theatre? Would you like to meet new people and get free tickets for some of our shows?
Now in it’s second year The Mart Theatre, an innovative theatre based in Skipton Auction Mart, is looking to develop it’s growing band of volunteers who help us deliver the highest standards of customer care and safety whilst enjoying the great fun of our theatre.
Volunteers are the backbone of the theatre and vital to its continuation and success. There are many different opportunities to get involved and we could not begin to operate without them and appreciate all the work they do The theatre requires stewards for each show as part of the licensing conditions and stewards have an important role in maintaining the safety of our patrons.
They offer a warm welcome to theatregoers, assist with front of house, sell programmes, and generally assist to ensure the theatre space is made welcoming and clear for our audience. Ideally you will be over 18, free one or two nights a week to include Friday and Saturday and some afternoons, have an interest in the arts and be willing to work as a member of a team.
The theatre is also looking to develop a ‘Friends Publicity Team’ that would meet regularly to help with coordinating mailings, gathering promotional and publicity material or just helping promote shows by arranging poster and leaflet distribution to shops and venues. This is great for the theatre and would also give an opportunity for morning coffee and chat about theatre events at the same time!
Full training will be given to all Front of House volunteers, which covers both normal and emergency roles. Typically Stewards are needed from 45 minutes before a show starts until 15 minutes after the end of the show.
